What is Seamoss?

Seamoss or Irish moss is a type of algae belonging to the Chondrus Crispus, Gracilaria, Kappaphycus Alvarezii or Eucheuma Cottonii species of seaweed. It grows more abundantly in the warmer waters of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It is also a superfood. Seamoss contains many of the minerals used by the human body including:calcium, vitamins, Sulphur, iodine, zinc etc.

Where does Seamoss come from?

Our seamoss (St. Lucia Seamoss) is cultivated using 100% natural methods by a small group of farmers on the protected waters of the Caribbean island, St. Lucia. This Eastern Caribbean island is part of a chain of volcanic islands known as the Lesser Antilles. With an area of 616 sq. km; 238 miles, the hot tropical climate is moderated all year round by the north-east trade winds making it an ideal location for sea moss cultivation. The sea moss is properly harvested and dried naturally by the glaring heat of the sun on this tropical paradise. The farmers work very closely with the government and other stakeholders to ensure that they adhere to positive environmental sustainability practices
